What We Believe

"What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us." - A.W. Tozer

Core Beliefs

The following are the core beliefs of Village Park Church based on the foundational truths taught in the bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.

WE BELIEVE:
  • That there is one God existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, equal in power and glory.
  • That Jesus Christ was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary; That while on earth He was possessed of two natures, divine and human.
  • That Jesus Christ voluntarily assumed the sinner's place in substitutionary atonement for the sins of mankind.
  • That Jesus rose from the dead and ascended into heaven and is at the right hand of God
  • Serving as our Advocate and High Priest; That He is the King of kings and Lord of Lords, and as such, He shall return to this earth to rule and reign.
  • That man was created by God in His own image and after His own likeness, but all have sinned and need the saving atonement of Christ.
  • That no one can enter the Kingdom of God until he is "born again" of the Spirit of God, according to the teaching of Jesus Christ, receiving thereby, the gift of eternal life.
  • In a coming judgment of all mankind, resulting in rewards for the overcoming children of God, and eternal punishment for the unbelievers who have rejected Jesus Christ, the Son of God as Savior and Lord.
  • That every born again child of God is commanded to be filled with the Spirit for power to do the words an works of Jesus. The basis for this filling is absolute surrender to God. The filling of the Spirit will be evidenced by the fruit of the Spirit; love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control, and the manifestation of the spiritual gifts as the Spirit wills.
  • That speaking in tongues is not the only evidence of being filled with the Spirit but is one of the gifts.
  • That the supernatural power of God is in operation today.
  • That all the Spiritual gifts are in operation today.
  • That the church today is under the same mandate as the first century church to:
1. Preach repentance unto salvation to the lost.
2. Minister in healing to the sick
3. Minister in deliverance to the demonized.
  • That God will anoint with power His Spirit-filled child to do the words and works of Jesus.
  • That our fellowship with believers from various parts of the body of Christ is based solely on the fact that we are all saved by grace through faith and the atoning blood of Jesus.
  • That the Holy Scriptures in their entirety, both Old and New Testaments are the inspired Word of God; that this divine inspiration was given in such a way as to furnish us with an absolutely infallible and authoritative Bible as a rule of faith and practice.
  • That marriage is and always has been the union of one man and one woman; it's a spiritual and covenantal union that precedes and supersedes any governmental structure or definition of marriage.  Because we believe that what the bible says about marriage is clear, definitive, and unchanging, there is no room for debate or compromise on the issue of same-sex marriage. Consequently, we will not accept, nor adhere to, any legal re-definition of marriage issued by any political or judicial body including the United States Supreme Court. We will not recognize same-sex "marriages" and our church and Pastors will not bless, host, or perform same-sex ceremonies.  Our only acceptable definition of marriage will be the union of one biological man and one biological woman in an exclusive and faithful covenant relationship. We will treat marriage as a covenant entered into before God, and we will not be bound by any governmental definitions that compromise that viewpoint! (Genesis 2:24 - Matthew 19:5)
